You can watch the video below and follow along with these basic instructions on how to safely apply and remove a CFX Pro-Silicone Mask!
Important: Be sure to remove any jewelry, watches, or other items on your hands and face/head before the application and removal of your mask/gloves, as they may damage the mask/gloves.

How to Put on Your CFX Mask

Put your hands flat inside the neck area of the mask so that your fingers extend into the lower sides of the face.  It may help at this point to hold the mask upside down, as this will cause the chest and shoulders to flip inside-out and make positioning the mask much easier.  Stretch the mask open gently with the back of your hands facing the inside of the neck, and pull it down over your face, starting at your forehead and rocking it back and forth gently as needed down over your head.  Once the mask is on, using the palms of your hands, shift (don’t tug) the mask into place over your facial features and ears.  If you need to re-position the mask, the same techniques apply, move the mask with the palms of your hands or reach in with the back of your hands to the interior of the mask’s face and lift up around the face and move as necessary.

How to Take Off Your CFX Mask

To remove, put your hands up into the neck area as before, again being sure that they go into the face.  Lift it off from the front towards the back, again being sure to rock it back and forth off of your face.
Note: For people with long hair, a wig cap may be required. Putting the mask on chin-first while sliding it back over the hair will help.  If necessary, use talc powder to facilitate easy application of the mask, as this reduces the grip of the silicone rubber over hair. If using powder, only a small amount is needed.

How to Put on Your CFX Gloves

To apply gloves, roll up the cuff (arm) area up to the wrist so that your hand doesn’t have to push through the full length of the glove.  Use a small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol inside the glove to ease the application process. Gently pull the glove over your hand, and then gently unroll the sleeve down the length of your arm.  To remove, simply reverse the process.  Using your thumb, roll the cuff back down to the wrist and pull your hand out. Do not pull the edge of the cuff to apply or pull from the fingers to remove.

Using Your Silicone Mask and Gloves

When acting in your mask, remember that the majority of your facial movements will be reflected in the mouth and brow.  Exaggerating mouth, jaw and upper facial movement is recommended.
Note:  Pro-silicone masks & gloves are meant for entertainment purposes and adult use only. The silicone material that these products are composed of is typically non-allergenic and is classified as skin-safe.  While we have never had reports of any allergy or allergic reaction, discontinue use if skin irritation or discomfort occurs.

Storing Your Silicone Mask or Gloves

When not in use, store the mask on the display head provided. To permanently display your mask, we recommend gluing down the display head (Liquid Nails works best) to a sturdy surface, like a tabletop or piece of heavy plywood, for ease of application and removal of the mask.

To safely and easily store your mask on the foam head-form, first lightly spray with isopropyl alcohol, then standing behind the head-form with it facing away from you, apply the mask to the head in the same way that you would put it on yourself.

Gloves should not be stored on hand forms due to the difficulty and risk of tearing involved in pulling them over a rigid form. A pool noodle in the sleeve area is a great way to display and store your gloves, and you can also use a vertical paper towel holder to slide the gloves on to keep them upright!

How to Wash your Silicone Mask and Gloves

Silicone is an amazing material that is very easy to clean! To clean the mask/gloves, rinse with warm water and a mild soap (liquid dish soap works well), towel pat dry or let air dry. If you need to disinfect between actors, spray with Lysol or isopropyl alcohol and dry.  Be sure to remove any al all remaining moisture in your mask/gloves prior to storage.
Check out this video on two ways to wash your silicone mask to keep it in the best condition possible!

Repairs

Your mask/gloves, if handled properly, should not tear.  However, if a tear occurs it can easily be repaired. We offer repair services should you not have the knowledge, practice or feel comfortable doing the repair yourself. Use the REPAIRS contact sumbission form for more information!
If repairing the mask yourself, you should do so with SmoothOn’s SilPoxy adhesive. To repair a tear, first, clean the area well with rubbing alcohol to remove and oil or dirt, then, lay the mask down or clip the area such that the torn edges are touching their proper places.  Apply a small amount of sealant to the torn edges and stick them together, wiping away the excess from the mask surface.  Let the tear stay in this position until the sealant is fully cured.  If the tear should run you can also stop the tear by using a hole punch to punch a hole at the end of the run, then repair with sealant.  All CFX Pro Silicone masks are cast with embedded elastic fiber reinforcement around stress areas to greatly reduce the risk of rips and running tears.  However, like any prop or mask, they are not made to withstand repeated abuse or mishandling.
This item is not a toy. Keep out of the reach of children. This item is intended for adult use.

Take a look at this video our Professor Hans Von Puppet as he discusses the benefits of Silicone Rubber over Latex Rubber.

Benefits of Silicone over Latex Rubber

Silicone masks are made from silicone rubber, which is durable, flexible, and lends itself to sculpting. All those qualities mean wickedly realistic masks that will stand up to many environments and that are comfortable to wear.

Our masks are designed to completely cover your head to transform you into someone (or something) else in a matter of seconds. Your full mask includes a “bib” section, or area of continued stylized silicone. The bib covers your neck and lays on your chest, shoulders, and back to enhance the illusion of transformation.
