FAQs
We strive for flexibility and good customer service and most topics are negotiable. That pretty much means that we want our customers to leave happy so they want to come back over and over again… and that we’d sell you this website if you gave us enough money for it.
Do you ship orders outside the US?
ANSWER:
Yes, we’ll ship to just about anywhere on the planet. Normally, we use the US Postal Service for international shipments. Obviously, international shipping is considerably more that domestic and varies from time to time based on postal service rates, so call or email for a shipping estimate. You may also be charged additional customs fees after your package arrives in your country. Don’t complain to us about this because we’re not charging these fees or collecting any money from it (we don’t even know how much it is usually). Also, please don’t ask us to adjust the retail values of your package in the paperwork to save on customs fees. On a good day, we hate to tell you no (but still will), and on a bad day, we’ll probably just be jerks about it.
QUESTION:
I need my stuff really fast… like yesterday. Will you send my stuff expedited?
ANSWER:
Yesterday? Well, our DeLorean is fresh out of gas, so we can’t quite make yesterday. We can ship by any of the expedited shipping methods through UPS, though (next day, 2nd day, etc.). Or course, it will cost you an arm and a leg, but we’ll do it. Call for an estimate.
Can you make a custom prop, animatronic, or makeup effects for me?
ANSWER:
Yes, we’d love to. We specialize in custom design and production of props and effects for theatrical productions and haunted attractions. take a look at our Custom Project Gallery to see some examples of our past projects. Contact Us for more information on commissioning a custom project.
QUESTION:
I saw a great prop/mask in your custom projects gallery that I’d like to buy. Are these items for sale?
ANSWER:
Unfortunately, no. In most cases, custom projects are commissioned by individuals who own the rights to reproduction after the project is completed. Sometimes the customer wants to have a unique product for their use only and other times they want a product that is the likeness of a licensed character (like the Pinhead mask or Davy Jones costume) and we can not legally sell reproductions to the public due to copyright & trademark regulations. Feel free to contact us, though, if you see an item that you’re interested in, as occasionally our customers grant us permission to sell reproductions to interested parties. If not, we can always produce a custom prop or mask just for you as well.

Also, take a moment to look at our Custom Silicone Mask section for more information. QUESTION:
I can’t afford a custom sculpted mask. Can you custom paint a mask that you already carry instead?
ANSWER:
Yes, and in most cases, at no additional charge. See our Custom Painted Masks page for more information.
QUESTION:
I need to repair my mask. What can I use?
ANSWER:
If you should find a tear in your mask, it can be easily repaired using GE brand Clear Silicone I Sealant/Caulk, available at Wal-Mart and most hardware stores.(DO NOT use Silicone II or a lower priced off-brand sealant. These are often inferior rubbers and will not adhere properly). First, wash the area well with alcohol to remove any dust or oil. Then, glue the area with your sealant in a way that can be held in place for at least one hour. The mask can be handled after an hour, but is best not used for another few hours after.
QUESTION:
I purchase a mask that is not reinforced from one of your competitors. How can I repair it and add reinforcement to it?
ANSWER:
It is best to have the mask reinforcement cast into the mask when being produced. But, should you own a mask that is not reinforced, you can help prevent further damage. First, if your mask has torn, repair as indicated above. Then, clean the areas inside the mask with alcohol around all holes (eyes, nose, mouth, ears). Now, use your silicone sealant to glue down some precut swatches of Power Mesh (a stretchy polyester mesh available at most fabric stores). Spread a thin layer of sealant over the mesh to seal it in. Lastly, remember that if you own a mask that is not reinforced, it’s not a question of IF it tears, but WHEN it tears.
QUESTION:
I’ve seen other silicone masks that do not have ear spaces or holes. Do yours?
ANSWER:
Yes. Our masks are cast with spaces for your ears to fit into and have ear holes cut in discretely. We know that when you’re wearing a mask in a production or haunted house, you need to be aware of your surroundings in every way possible.
QUESTION:
How long will my CFX silicone mask really last?
ANSWER:
The most accurate answer is – Several Years. Silicone rubber has been rated for chemical and physical stability for over 20 years without dry rot, discoloration, or loss of elasticity. However, we know that your mask won’t be sitting on a shelf like a trophy, so the only thing that will put wear on your mask is continual use and harsh treatment. In short, treat your CFX Silicone Mask well (you know, like it was worth about $500, for example), follow directions, use common sense, and it will last years to come.
Do your appliances come prepainted? Can I order them prepainted?
ANSWER:
No, our appliances come bare and unpainted. We don’t sell them prepainted because of cost limitations and the nature of custom prosthetic application. It is always best to paint your own appliance for easier blending and color control. For best results, we recommend using Body Air airbrush paints on your foam appliance. If you still want your appliance prepainted, Contact Us for information on custom prepainting (at extra cost, of course).
QUESTION:
Can I reuse a foam latex appliance?
ANSWER:
Yes. As for how many applications, that depends on many factors, mainly: climate (how much you sweat in it), the type of adhesive you use, the type of remover you use. To give you a general idea of life expectancy of your appliance, we often apply prosthetics to actors in South Louisiana, which averages around 80° in October with high humidity. This means that our actors sweat a lot and that we have to use a very strong adhesive. Under these conditions we get an average of 3 uses from one appliance (5 if we’re lucky). Our customers in better conditions often report getting several times more uses than that, sometimes an entire haunt season or more. For tips or advise on using our appliances Contact Us.
